Registry Editor — Windows 98 Simulator

The Registry replaced the old .ini files in Windows 95 and 98, and Regedit was the tool to open its hive. Tweaking a key by hand could change the look of the desktop or break the system, so every tip site of the time warned: "Always back up your registry first."

The simulator’s own settings live under HKEY_CURRENT_USER, so changing a value really changes the desktop.
